What is an Absence Management Policy?  Definition below:

An Absence Management Policy utilizes specific programs in order to minimize employee absences within a company. Although injury or illness is unpredictable and inevitable, companies can discourage unnecessary leave through financial perks.

Absence management policies help companies maintain a steady workflow and avoid coworkers feeling burdened with excessive work.

In order for absence management policies to make a positive impact, Human Resource departments must ensure employees are well aware of these procedures. This can be done through regular training and reminders. Employees should know the proper procedure if calling in sick and what their company expects of them in terms of attendance.

The absence policy must be fair, consistent, and clear. It should include paid time off, short-term leave, long-term leave, and disciplinary steps for ongoing absentee problems.
